A special offer for food businesses in the Hudson Valley
Welcome, friends of Hudson Valley Food Network! My name is Paul O'Hanlon. I'm a food, wine and restaurant photographer based in the Hudson Valley, enjoying its edible bounty for the past two years. I've especially enjoyed meeting so many chefs and restaurateurs who showcase our wonderful local variety on their menus.
My love of photography and food have taken me from five star dining rooms in Manhattan to roadside stands in Tucson, to the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival and to the local diner in Beacon where I live. My editorial work has appeared in Edible Hudson Valley, Imbibe and The Week magazines, among others.
If you are in the business of food — growing it, cooking it or in selling it in any way — I'd like to offer you a photographic taste test:
* One Free Delicious Food Photo *
No strings attached, it's yours to distribute in any way you see fit, in print or online.
What can you do with one great shot?
Promote your business online.
Potential customers go online first when they're searching for new places or planning a trip. Review sites like Urbanspoon.com and Yelp.com offer you a free way to get your business in front of hundreds if not thousands of eyes, as are Google Local and Yahoo Local. All of these sites have opportunities for showing off your business by adding photos to your listing. Think about it, when you're planning a trip and deciding where to stop for lunch, aren't you more likely to visit that has great photos of its food or dining room?
Give it to the media.
In an era of shrinking editorial budgets, having great photography on hand when the press calls can maximize your exposure. When Hudson Valley Magazine called Poppy's Burgers & Fries to tell them that they won the Best New Burger category, chef Paul Yeaple had an image of a juicy, bacon-laden, grassfed burger to send them. The Poppy's photo ran next to all three of the category winners but at first glance it looked like Poppy's won them all. Even if you were just skimming through the section, you probably caught the name of the restaurant underneath the photo.

Give it to a tourism office.
Counties, cities and the Hudson Valley as a region all have tourism offices that are reaching out to the press to give our area exposure as well as organizing promotions of their own. Contact to your local office to find out about getting listed in any area guides. Supply them with this photo for promotional uses with the request that they mention your business and link to your website.
The list goes on...
I hope that this list gives you some ideas for how you could use one great shot of your café, bistro, gourmet grocery, bakery or farm stand.
